When Your Energy Feels Heavy: A Return to Divine Connection

I had an awareness come in the other day.
I was leaving the grocery store when I was suddenly hit with a wave of anxiety. I found myself rushing to my car, feeling like everyone was looking at me.
But were they really?
That morning had started completely differently. I woke up feeling excited, ready to get out of the house, do a little shopping, and enjoy my day. Nothing felt off. Nothing felt heavy.
So why, within a matter of moments, was I in the middle of a full anxiety response?
It did not make sense.
I got to my car, turned on the air conditioning, and sat there for a moment. As I began to slow my breath and come back into my body, something became very clear.
This energy was not mine.
This emotion was not mine.
And more importantly, I had the awareness and the tools to shift it.
There are moments when your energy feels heavier than it should, not because something is wrong, but because something has been carried for too long.
And most of the time, we do not question it.
We assume it is ours.
We try to think our way through it.
We push through the feeling and continue on with our day.
What I have come to experience and understand is that your body does not process energy through logic. It processes through sensation, through awareness, and through presence. When something enters your field, whether it is your own or something you have picked up along the way, your system responds first, and your mind tries to make sense of it second.
This is why you can feel completely fine one moment, and suddenly overwhelmed the next.
Heavy energy does not always announce itself clearly. It shows up in subtle, cumulative ways that are easy to overlook if you are not paying attention.
You may feel it physically as fatigue, tension in your shoulders, tightness in your chest, or a heaviness in your stomach. Emotionally, it can feel like overwhelm, irritability, or a quiet disconnection that never fully lifts. Mentally, it often appears as fog, overthinking, or difficulty staying present.
None of this is random.
Your body and your energy are constantly responding to what you experience, what you hold, and what you have not yet released. And not all of it belongs to you.
The shift does not begin by forcing anything out. It begins with awareness.
Not analysis.
Not judgment.
Just recognition.
When you notice what you are feeling without immediately trying to fix it, you create space. And within that space, something important happens.
You begin to realize that you do not have to keep carrying everything the same way( This is where my reiki training really helps me, the awareness and deeper connection with self)
Instead of trying to think your way out of what you are feeling, you come back into your body.
Pause for a moment.
Bring your awareness inward and notice where the heaviness is sitting. Do not try to change it. Just acknowledge it.
Take a slow breath in, and a longer breath out.
As you exhale, gently give yourself the instruction:
Anything that is not mine, I release with ease.
You do not need to push anything away. Your system already knows how to let go when it feels safe enough to do so.
This is not about control. It is about allowing.
Returning to your body becomes the practice.
Step outside if you can. Place your feet on the ground. Feel the steadiness beneath you. Let your breath deepen naturally. Let your shoulders soften. Let your awareness come back to something real and present.
This is how you begin to reconnect. Not through effort, but through presence.

We cannot access a new way of being without experiencing it directly.
